New Merc E-Class spied

New Merc E-Class spied

The next generation Mercedes-Benz E-Class isn't expected to be officially shown until later this year.

However, the new sedan has been spotted out testing with minimal disguising on a Spanish motorway.

The pictures reveal a sharper-looking E-Class, the big-selling sedan (and eventual estate) borrowing bold feature lines from its smaller C-Class relative.

Around the front the familial familiarity continues, with the new E-Class clearly wearing headlamps aping those of the CLS and new SL models.

It's hoped the sharper, more sporting look will increase the appeal to younger buyers and steal sales from its key BMW 5 Series rival.

The new car will come with a selection from Mercedes' existing engine line-up, while a hybrid version is also expected to be offered.

Despite the likely hybrid Mercedes will also continue to push its diesel models in the USA with the introduction of its new car.
