Speedy Bentley
- Kyle Fortune
Crowd pleaser or motoring teaser?
Bentley might be owned by Volkswagen, but it remains a quintessentially British marque. Fittingly, the flying-badged firm has brought along a few stand-out models to wow the public at the show. The New Continental Flying Spur makes an appearance on the Bentley stand, but it's the Speed that's causing the most interest. The Speed is a 600bhp bad-boy in the Flying Spur range, able to reach 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds and 320 km/h flat out.
Stand out features?
Besides the usual Bentley attention to detail and exquisite build inside and out the new Flying Spur and Flying Spur Speed are being used to highlight Bentley's partnership with British hi-fi manufacturer Naim. So as well as a thumping great powerplant under the hood the Bentley boys can boast a sound system that's more powerful than any other fitted to a production car. There's 1,100 Watts of music power, the Naim system available from August.
Showroom soon or never to be seen?
Walk into the beautiful surrounds that typify a Bentley dealership and you can order up your Continental Flying Spur or Flying Spur Speed right now. You might be in for a short wait while it's built to your exacting specification, but then hand-built luxury cars don't happen overnight and quality like this is worth waiting for. It doesn't come cheap though, but then you probably already knew that.
