Special cats on Jaguar stand
- Kyle Fortune
Crowd pleaser or motoring teaser?
You could be forgiven for missing the special edition XK60 model on the Jaguar stand, the convertible a 60-year celebratory model overshadowed by its overtly sporting XKR-S coupé sister next to it. Joining the XKs in London is Jaguar's XJ luxury sedan and the recently introduced XF - Jaguar's newest model doing very well for the company. Even with all the cars on Jaguar's exhibit the XKR-S in menacing black is undoubtedly the star.
Stand out features?
Capable of reaching 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds and with an electronically limited 280 km/h top speed the XKR-S is Jaguar's fastest car since the XJ220. Not only that, but the XKR-S looks sensational, the body kit giving it some real added aggression. With Aston Martin conspicuously absent from the show the XKR-S should be sure to pick up a few deposit cheques from the wealthy visitors from London's financial district. However, every one of the 50 cars the firm is building is already accounted for.
Showroom soon or never to be seen?
Everything on Jaguar's stand is available now in its dealerships. You might have a bit of a wait for the XF though, the order books nicely full of eager customers. Sadly if you want the beautiful XKR-S you'll have to find a customer willing to sell you one, as Jaguar isn't building any more.
